Japan has a wider variety of family names.
The number is about 3 million.
The name "SATO" are roughly 20 million people in Japan.

Year of the Hare"卯"



We made "Mutsuki"T-shirts yesterday.
I forgot most important things,that is this year's Eto!
Japanese Zodiac is called "Eto" or "Junishi".
It is used 12 animal sign.
The animals are: the rat, ox, tiger, hare, dragon,
serpent,horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and boar.
According to the Eto, 2011 is the Year of the Hare.

Mutsuki"睦月"literally means "January."

"Mutsuki" literally means "January."
We visit a Shinto shrine or Buddhist temple at the beginning of the new year in Japan.
This red picture is "Torii".
The Torii is a symbolic Shinto shrine gate.
We think Torii's shape is a good design and really beautiful!!

Two polar bears T-shirts."白熊"and"北極熊"


We made "polar bear swim" T-shirts yesterday.
Polar bear is really cute!!
So, we made another 2 types of polar bear T-shirts!
One is "Shiro-kuma",that means white bear.
And the other one is "Hokkyoku-kuma", that is literally translated
into English as polar bear!!
Those two are really Kawaii!

Kanchu-suiei"寒中水泳” Polar bear swim

Last Sunday, a lot of Budoka"martial artists" and athletes swam in the cold water in Japan. It is called polar bear swim. It sounds really cold!! This training ”Polar bear swim" is one of the midwinter training.

A lot of Budoka"martial artists" do midwinter training on Daikan in Japan.
They get started at dawn or early in the morning.
Some of them do in the river or in the sea, that means in the cold water.

Daikan (大寒)

Here comes a new one!

Daikan is the coldest day in winter in Japan.
It is celebrated every year on January 20th or 21st.
A lot of Budoka"martial artists" do midwinter training today.
It sounds really cold!!
